Some things are of benefit to everybody and a cookbook page holder is one of these items. A product which can be used to ensure that you can stay on the right page of your book and give your hands and arms a rest. It's even more useful if you live with a disability which results in weak grip or difficult manipulating small things due to a motor skills problem.

It is weighty and stylish design and can be used for any book, not just in the kitchen

I recently reblogged the active 'New York Handicapped' symbol

New York Handicapped symbol

but as trabasaxon Hannah Ensor points out in her recent blog she has been promoting a positive UK design for a while now.

She says that the new one is a bit too sporty and that her one promotes a more positive message. I agree!

When you're dressing yourself, one particular complication can be fasteners. Whether you have poor manual dexterity or the use of only one hand, it can be virtually impossible, for instance, to fasten the buckles on your belts. Or you might be able to manage the buckle with a struggle, but then have problems if you have to rush to the toilet.

A good low cost solution are Easy Belts http://easybelts.co.uk/

THINGS FIRED AT IDS's BALLS: No. 1. Nest of Angry Bees via @dochackenbush

Comment:

IDS is Iain Duncan Smith, an unpopular politician in charge of 'welfare reform' (cuts) in the UK. This weekend he said in an interview that money (housing benefit) currently given to people under 25 to help pay for rent, should be completely cut to fund extra police and for increased military spending. This would leave thousands of young people homeless.

He said all young people in low paid work or unemployed should return to live with parents. Of course, that is not an option for many people. Particularly people from care homes, poorer backgrounds who do not have homes with the space, divorced families, or people whose parents do not approve of their lifestyles for whatever reason.

E g why not using the brain for typing your pin code in the shop or when opening a door when having your hands full?
